Churchill's Fluorescent Long Lunch
Churchill's Fluorescent Long Lunch — Original Painting
£2,500.00
A celebration of long lunches, colourful company and the courage to order another bottle.
Inspired by the unmistakable geometry of vintage Marlboro packaging, this original painting reimagines the familiar design in vibrant fluorescent pink and chalky white, with LONG LUNCH replacing the original branding and FILTERED COMPANY sitting above.
A solitary martini takes centre stage, while beneath the title sits a familiar quotation often attributed to Winston Churchill:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”
Followed by the artist's rather less statesmanlike conclusion:
“So yes, we will have another bottle.”
The bold, graphic centre is surrounded by an energetic, Pollock-inspired explosion of colour. Layers of thrown, dripped and splattered acrylic in electric blue, orange, green and white create a striking contrast with the controlled geometry of the central image.
Built up through layers of acrylic paint, scraping, sanding and expressive mark-making, the work brings together iconic advertising imagery and abstract expressionism, balancing playful nostalgia with the spontaneity of a heavily textured original painting.
A celebration of good company, long afternoons and the occasional disregard for sensible decisions.
A completely unique original painting. There is only one.
