Long Lunch in London Original Painting. An ode to the great London long lunch.
An original mixed-media work built from layers of menus collected from some of our favourite London institutions, including St John, Sweetings, Scott’s, Wiltons, The Wolseley, The Devonshire, J Sheekey, Rules, Quo Vadis, The River Café and many more.
The menus are torn, layered and worked directly into the canvas before being partially obscured with layers of acrylic paint, washes and expressive brushwork. Fragments remain visible throughout the surface — little references to memorable restaurants, good bottles and lunches that went on rather longer than planned.
The result is a completely unique, highly textured original work. There is only one.
